Swiveling Seat
Swiveling Seat

For Davis, SD, farmer Harlan Temple, a Swiveling Seat facilitates transfer from his wheelchair to the driver's station of his modified John Deere Gator. The vehicle's seat was modified by mounting a swivel between it and its base. A steel plate was fastened to the bottom of the seat, with a pivot bearing between the plate and the vehicle floor. Four small rollers (similar to chair casters) were fixed around the plate to prevent the seat from tipping or tilting. A lever fastened to a pin locks and unlocks both seat and base to keep the seat from turning during transfer.
