Muffler Heat Shield

Also developed by Iowa FaRM Program personnel was the Muffler Heat Shield to protect those utility vehicle operators who have little or no feeling in the legs. The Shield was constructed of sheet metal with rolled edges that attach to existing bolts on an ATV. Hardware-store-bought expanding-foam insulation was then applied about 1½ inches thick to the outside of the sheet metal, creating an effective shield from engine heat.
