Bin-Fill Auger Shut-Off Device
Five gallon bucket attached to a silo augers shutoff switch filling with grain.

To eliminate having to climb up his grain bins to check the fill level, Sac City (IA) farmer Walter Huster made a Bin-Fill Auger Shut-Off Device that automatically turns off the auger once a bin is filled. It consists of a plastic downspout with a bucket at the bottom that's attached to the auger shut-off switch. When the grain level reaches the downspout, it begins flowing into the bucket. Then when a certain amount accumulates, the weight pulls the switch handle down, shutting off the auger.
