Break-Away Hanging Step
About 18 inches above the hanging step that is welded to left and right 30-degree-sloped arms is another metal pipe also welded to the arms, which are bent parallel to the step and their ends bent to serve as fastening hooks.

The Breaking New Ground Resource Center has designed a Break-Away Hanging Step that will fit onto most tractors' original steps and will break free without damaging those steps should it hit an object in the field, such as a boulder or a ditch. Hooks on the arms of the Hanging Step must be customized in order to latch onto the bottom step of the ladder.
