Lowered Drill Press
The drill press sits atop the shortened (about 12-inches high) metal stand that consists of a 2-inch-diameter hollow steel pipe welded between rectangular metal plates.

With assistance from Illinois AgrAbility staffers, Jonesboro, IL, farmer Lynn Burchyett fabricated a Lowered Drill Press by simply shortening the stand. This lowered the drilling head and support table so the crank and drill could be more conveniently operated from a wheelchair. Although the shorter base reduces the size of what can be drilled, it accommodates most work typically done in a farm shop.
