Hydraulic Jack w/ Special Drill Holder
Ink drawing showing (bottom to top) (1) the jack, (2) the V-shaped drill holder welded to a piece of pipe, (3) the drill, its back end resting in the holder; and (4) the drill bit punched thru an angle iron.

The job of drilling holes upward through a piece of metal goes a lot easier and faster by using a Hydraulic Jack w/ Special Drill Holder. The holder is an angle iron welded to a short piece of pipe that fits on the top of the jack. Steady the drill with one hand while raising the jack slowly with the other. Then, for safety's sake, hold the drill firmly with both hands and bore the last fraction of an inch without using the jack.
