Ampo Fisher 1
Drawing of a hand showing the thumb and forefinger holding the quick-change unit and the other three fingers holding the turning arm.

The Ampo Fisher 1 is a prosthetic arm terminal device that slips over the crank of a fishing reel to allow retrieving the line. Constructed of aluminum and stainless steel and weighing only 4 ounces, it consists of three separate parts— (a) a quick-change unit, which threads into the prosthetic wrist and holds the turning arm in place; (b) a turning arm, which fastens to the quick-change unit; and (c) a nylon bearing, which replaces a standard reel handle. The turning arm is inserted over the nylon bearing when the reel is to be turned. Most reels can be adapted to work with the Ampo Fisher 1.
