Wheelchair-Accessible Pontoon Fishing Boat
Two adult males aboard the boat, one toward the front seated in his wheelchair, the other in the back operating a trolling motor.

Mike Haggerty of Spalding, NE, built his own Wheelchair-Accessible Pontoon Fishing Boat. The craft's 9½-foot by 6-foot aluminum platform is mounted on pontoons made of 12-inch irrigation pipe. (Each foot of pipe length will float 27 pounds.) He also built an access ramp that allows him to wheel onto the boat. Straps mounted to the floor toward the front keep the chair in place once on board. Haggerty also mounted a chair toward the rear for the friend who helps him board safely and guide the craft. Power is provided by either an electric trolling motor or 3-horsepower gasoline motor.
