Hydraulically Lifted Grinder Auger
The cylinder that runs from the auger’s protective casing down to a portion of the wheeled grinder’s frame; also seen is the auger’s activating lever.

Those who grind their own grain for feed know that the auger carrying the unground materials is heavy and cumbersome to swing toward and away from the grinder. Dale, IN, turkey producer Charles Gogle has made a Hydraulically Lifted Grinder Auger, consisting of a single-action hydraulic cylinder bolted to both the bottom of the auger and the frame of the grinder (see figure). This allows him to raise and lower the auger without injuring his back or losing his balance. The cylinder's hydraulic lines are tapped into the auger's hydraulic lines. (On newer grinder/ mixers, remote hydraulic actuation of the feed auger is an available option.)
