Tall Seedling Transplanter
Left pic of tractor towing red tall seedling planter. Rt pic shows tractor with yellow tall seedling planter attached.

With a Tall Seedling Transplanter, 2-3 people can reportedly plant thousands of up-to-6-feet high, bare-root or potted seedlings a day without bending, lifting, walking, and carrying. The tractor attachment, which can be either towed or mounted, consists of a plow shoe that opens the furrow, two press wheels that push the furrow closed once the seedling is placed, and rolling coulters (combination backfill blades/packing wheels) that ridge the soil up around the row of trees. Some models feature a placement wheel: as the machine moves down the row, the workers place the seedlings into retainers on this wheel, which (as it rotates) drops each one into the opened furrow, the press wheels and rolling coulters then completing the transplant job.

Estimated Cost Cost range: $10,000-$35,000
