Remote Control Gate Opener
Holding the remote is an adult male standing next to the upright culvert section that houses the garage door opener, with the 12-foot-long arm running to the mid-point of the gate that’s in the process of opening.

Roanoke, IL, farmer John Imhoff built a Remote Control Gate Opener, using an electrically powered garage door opener and a 12-foot angle iron arm hinged in the middle. To protect it from the elements, the opener is housed in a covered section of culvert located 5 feet from the gate post. The angle iron arm extends from the opener to the gate. When activated by a hand-held remote control, the opener gear rotates, moving the arm and opening the gate.
