Powered Air-Purifying Respirator
Man from shoulders-up wearing yellow & black shirt - white hard-hat - goggles - & a clear respirator face mask with a battery pack around the back of his neck. Blue sky in background.

Workers with respiratory impairments do not need to labor to breathe through a dust mask with a Powered Air-Purifying Respirator. Called the CleanSpace 2, this device is an air-filtering, fan-assisted, positive-pressure, breathing-responsive mask that's designed for use in environments where there's sufficient oxygen to breath safely. The fan draws air through a filter and blows it into the breathing mask. Weighing approximately 1 pound, it operates off an internal battery, which means no hoses or battery pack. Features include: HEPA (pleated) filter; audio and visual alarms; switches off 3 minutes after idle; and reportedly up to 8 hours run time before re-charge. It is also small enough to fit under a welding helmet for use in the farm shop.

Caution symbol Caution Notes: Caution: Do not use this respirator in oxygen-enriched or deficient atmospheres to protect against gases or vapors that cannot be filtered.
