Homemade Riding Mower Servicing Deck
2 pics of metal ramp balanced like a see-saw on green legs in the middle with a pair of legs on one end. First pic has yellow & green riding mower beginning to climb ramp. Second the mower is sitting level on ramp supported by middle and end legs.

His Homemade Riding Mower Servicing Deck allows Graham Keeney to perform maintenance tasks (e.g., change oil, clean, blade-sharpen) at the right height (2 feet off the ground). The device consists of the following: (1) two 10-foot-long, 10-inch-wide ramps (made of corrugated, non-skid metal); (2) four deck legs (made from 21/2-inch square tubing)-two attached 12 inches from the end of the ramps and two at the ramps' mid-points (with skid plates so the unit can be towed); and (3) a one-way hydraulic cylinder attached to a bracket by metal pins that allows it to pivot. When the mower, driven up the ramps, reaches beyond the deck's center-point, the ramps tip forward slowly to a horizontal position (due to the cylinder's restrictive action). The same is true when returning the mower to the ground.
