Tek Robotic Mobilization Device
Tek Robotic Mobilization Device

Designed for persons with lower extremity disabilities, the battery-powered, two-wheeled Tek Robotic Mobilization Device (RMD) first lifts the users independently from a seated position (e.g., wheelchair, sofa, bedside) to a standing position, then transports them in a standing position. Weighing 175 pounds and about a third the width of a wheelchair, it reportedly has a 2-mph top speed, a 9-mile range on a single charge, and can navigate grades up to 5%. One "summons" and positions the RMD via hand-held remote, accesses it via stabilizing arm and lifting straps, then (again with the remote) activates its lift motion. Once upright and stabilized, the user operates the device via the hand controls located on its handlebars.
