Battery-Operated Hand Planter
Man using a Battery-Operated hand planter to plant a garden

The "Seed Spacer" Battery-Operated Hand Planter allows a person to sow seed while standing up. Powered by a 1.3-volt DC motor that runs off a single D-cell battery, the device consists of a waist-high tube with handle on the top and seed-dispensing wheel on the bottom, which has a plastic-covered double hopper. Seed is poured into the inner hopper and the cover adjusted to seed size. Planting simply involves pushing a button on the handle, which causes the wheel to rotate slowly and the seed to fall from the outer hopper as one walks down the row.
