Portable Deer Stand
An adult male seated in the already elevated hunter’s compartment of a tall ladder stand that’s leaning against a building.

The Portable Deer Stand allows a person to hunt from an elevated position at any site. Constructed of 1½-inch and 3/4-inch square steel tubing, it can be used as a free-standing tripod or a ladder stand that leans against and fastens to a tree. It has a padded seat with armrests and footrest, each of which slide up and down the ladder on the end of a 3/16-inch galvanized steel cable. There are two models of the stand—a 100-pound manual version that has a hand winch and safety brake; and a 150- pound electric version that has a 12-volt-powered winch bolted to the bottom of the stand and a control switch on the seat. Available with both models are optional shooting rail, camouflage canopy, and steel skids, which allow the stand to be pulled by an off-road utility vehicle or by hand. It takes about 10 minutes for an able-bodied helper to set up this portable deer stand.
