Farmers who are sensitive to direct sunlight and heat can benefit from a roof on their tractors. Not wanting to spend the money on an after-market cab for his 37 hp JD 1050, Jackson (MI) farmer Dale Fisher built this Homemade Golf Cart Roof for Small Tractor, which consist of the top of an old golf cart plus other miscellaneous items. At the front of the cab, supporting both roof and a safety-glass windshield is a 1-inch angle iron frame bolted to the tractor's upright loader brackets. The rear of the roof and a plexiglass back window (from an old storm door) are affixed to the vehicle's roll-bar. Four screws hold everything in place, making putting on/taking off an easy job. The cab also has flexible zippered doors that Fisher rolls open then secures with Velcro straps.
