Homemade Swivel-Hitch Hook-Up Tool
Homemade Swivel-Hitch Hook-Up Tool

Kept in a tractor's toolbox, this Homemade Swivel-Hitch Hook-Up Tool makes it a lot easier for South Dakota farmer B.M. to attach, by himself, any implement that has a swivel-hitch tongue. His gadget consists of three 3 x 3/4 inch bolts welded at their heads (the two outer ones pointing in one direction, the middle one pointing the opposite way for use as a handle) plus a same-size nut welded upright to the upper surface of one of the outside bolts. Holding the tool by the middle bolt handle, he inserts the bolt that has no nut through the hole in the tongue that’s below where the swivel hitch is fastened, the other bolt clearing the end of the tongue. The nut welded on top of that bolt lifts the hitch high enough so it is parallel to the ground, allowing the hook up to be completed. Once hitched, the tool is removed.
