Mini Tiller/Cultivator
Small gas powered tiller

A Mini Tiller/Cultivator is used primarily to carry out two jobs: pre-plant seedbed preparation and growing season weed removal. (It can also be used to mix compost into the soil.) As to tilling capability, this device is built more for turning over soil in an existing planting area than for breaking up new ground or working heavy, wet soils. As to cultivating, it does so between rows and within a row (depending on distance between plants). While all mini machines are relatively narrow (8 to 14 inches) and relatively lightweight, they vary regarding such things as how powered (gas engine vs. electric motor, corded vs. cordless), number and location of tine discs (front vs. rear), control system, optional attachments, etc.

Estimated Cost Cost range: $190-$450, depending primarily on power source, number of tine discs.
