The Air Probe Automatic Soil Sampler consists of: a residue rake (clears path under the probe), the main cylinder (pushes probe to depth stop with 550 pounds force), a tilt cylinder (pivots probe into container), an eject cylinder (pushes soil core out of probe), and a turntable (holds 20 containers indexed bi-directionally by driver control). Other Air Probe features include spring-loaded axle for highway transport, wide flotation tires, water tank to supply drippers that lubricate probe, cable that transfers control to driver location, hitch adapter allowing variable hitch height, and spotlight for after-dark operation.
