Kwik Pik Rock Picker

After spring tillage, a farmer/rancher may have to go back over certain fields to remove rocks that could otherwise damage the planter and other implements or could hinder crop growth. Picking up rocks, whether by tractor loader, backhoe, or pickup truck, is a time-consuming, labor-intensive job. The Kwik Pik Rock Picker, which mounts on the tractor’s loader arm, will pick up rocks and debris that’s between 2 and 24 inches in diameter and will hold them in a hopper. Shaped like a loader bucket, the device has a tined reel to pull rocks in and a grated floor one diameter of the object being to sift out the dirt. The reel opening clearance is 24 inches, so at least one diameter of the object being loaded must be smaller than that. With the hopper at ground level, the operator drives up to a rock then lowers the reel to “sweep” it into the hopper. Once full of rocks, the hopper can be emptied into a transport vehicle by raising the reel and tipping the hopper forward.
