Sliding-Door Opener
Colfax, IL, farmer Jim Kruse created a Sliding-Door Opener from a standard remote-control-operated garage door opener. Its motor and drive mechanism were mounted beside the door low enough that it can be easily adjusted and Sliding-Door Opener (1) repaired from a wheelchair [[[(Fig. 1)]]]. The opener’s drive cable runs vertically up the wall and over a pulley before fastening to the top of the door [[[(Fig. 2)]]]. The cable/pulley system was designed so that it could pull horizontally against the top of the door to reduce stress on the door’s rollers and track.
