Body Harness
Beaver, UT, rancher Bruce Brown made a Body Harness to hold him firmly in the saddle during rigorous riding. The harness is a 14-inch-wide belt that wraps around his lower chest and abdomen [[[(see figure)]]]. Three straps threaded through the belt pass over his shoulders and clip onto steel loops sewn into the saddle. Another strap loops around the saddle horn for added stability.

Impairment Category: Back, Lower extremity, Strength/endurance
Caution: Horse professionals are in agreement that riders should not be strapped or solidly secured to the saddle. The ability to dismount in the event of a horse being "spooked" is essential in all but those cases where the horse is highly predictable and the rider well experienced.
