Battery-Powered Tillers/Cultivators

Tillage is digging deep into the soil to break it up, whereas cultivation is working the top portion of soil to enhance fertility and destroy weeds. The Battery-Powered Tillers/Cultivators sourced here are designed to both till and cultivate. Powered by 40- to 80-volt lithium-ion batteries and having two or three disks of steel-trowel tines, they are reportedly able to till (break up) soil to a depth of 5 to 8 inches. Being relatively lightweight (25-35 pounds) and narrow (10-12 inches wide), they’re easier to maneuver and cultivate close to the growing plants. Various machines have such features as adjustable-position wheels, fold-down handles, and built-in overload protection. All, however, have push-button starters and come with batteries and chargers.
