Portable Large-Round-Bale Feeder

Gallatin, MO, farmer Dan Critten’s Portable Large-Round-Bale Feeder is moved using a rear-mounted, two-tine bale fork on his tractor’s three-point hitch. He made the feeder portable by welding two segments of steel tubing under one side of it at the proper spacing that allows the fork tines to slide into them. After first using the fork to transport a large round bale to a feeding site, Critten inserts the fork into the feeder’s carrying tubes, picks up the feeder, and places it over the top of the bale. With this method, he is able to stay on the tractor to feed his cattle hay.
