Universal Drip-Tape Injection Tool
This Universal Drip-Tape Injection Tool is designed to enable the producer to “inject” (i.e., lay on or beneath the surface) drip tape in an efficient manner, even in growing crops. Drip tape is helpful for workers with disabilities because it does not require lifting and moving during the season; once it is installed, the work is done for the year. The injection tool, which consists of a shank, tape guide, and spool carrier, reportedly mounts on virtually any type of toolbar or the drip tape injection system’s frame, and it is designed to lay the tape at depths ranging from 0 to 8 inches. The heat-treated shank is designed to provide the strength needed to inject into even heavy soil; the plastic guide at the foot of the shank is designed to ensure the tape lays flat in the bed (no twisting/crinkling); and the spool carrier includes a tape tensioning system to ensure appropriate tension.
Cost: $1,450 (each shank/tape guide/spool carrier tool)
Impairment Category: Back, Lower extremity, Strength/endurance, Upper extremity
