Homemade UTV Cab Air-Conditioning System

Whitewright (TX) farmer Gary Holloway’s Homemade UTV Cab Air-Conditioning System reportedly keeps him cool anywhere he goes in his John Deere Gator. Holloway’s system consists of a 5,000 BTU AC unit mounted onto the back panel of the UTV’s enclosed cab, which he runs off of a small Honda generator (bolted to the cargo bed floor). Two trade-offs are loss of the vehicle’s dump feature because of the AC unit and loss of some cargo-bed space because of the generator-but both can be temporarily removed if need be.

Cost: $1000 for a small generator and air conditioner
