Homemade Skid-Steer Access Step
To help him more easily get in and out of his side-entry JCB tracked loader, John Houston, of Davidsonville, MD, mounted a step on the side of the machine’s undercarriage. He made it out of expanded metal and a couple pieces of heavy angle iron.
Cost: Nominal
Impairment Category: Back, Strength/endurance, Upper extremity
Caution: It is important to attach the step to the machine with a low grade hardware (John used grade 3, 1/4" bolts) so the step can sheer off easily in case it contacts something hard.
