Pull-Behind Log Splitter with Log Lift
A Pull-Behind Log Splitter with Log Lift is available in various sizes/capacities to meet the needs of a farm operation, small firewood business, or commercial wood processing company. It can be towed to where the felled trees are and is powered by a gasoline or diesel engine and hydraulic pumps. Depending on the model, it can generate up to 42 tons or more of splitting force, handle logs 24 inches or so in diameter and up to 30 inches long, and split them into two- to five-way wedges. Again depending on model, the hydraulic lift is capable of raising a log weighing over 300 pounds up into the splitter. The machine rides on high-speed hubs, torsion axle, and 12-inch wheels, and it comes with trailer lights.
Cost: $2,000-$13,000, depending on capacity, splitting system, powering, etc.
Impairment Category: Back, Strength/endurance, Upper extremity
Caution: Tasks like tree felling, brush clearing, log splitting, and wood cutting are dangerous, and utmost caution should be used to protect the operator and bystanders. Follow the recommendations of the equipment/tool manufacturer for proper use and for necessary protective equipment needed for safe operation.
