Electronic Sow-Feeding System

With this Electronic Sow-Feeding System, sows are group-housed but individually fed. When each animal enters the feeding station, the system’s software reads her radio-frequency ID ear tag, and the automated feed hopper dispenses the precise amount of feed she requires based on a customized ration that had been programmed into the computer. At each feeding, the system also monitors a number of other important management aspects-all of which will likely result in higher body condition scores, better conceptions rates, minimized stress, and more balanced sow parity.
