Vermicomposting System

Vermiculture is the raising of earthworms for use as bait and/or for breaking down decomposing organic matter (e.g., vegetable/food waste, bedding material), which can then be safely disposed of or utilized as a nutrient-rich fertilizer or soil conditioner. With this Vermicomposting System, one is able to produce a worm-generated yet worm-free, marketable end product that reportedly has 5 times the N, 7 times the P, 11 times the K, 11/2 times the Ca, and 3 times the Mg as soil. The System, with its flow-through design (i.e., organic waste in at the top, finished vermicompost out the bottom) and aerobic condition, can be operated year-round. Harvesting reportedly begins just 6-8 weeks after set-up. After that, there reportedly is no need to turn the material, no nutrient loss via seepage, and no further wormed population required after initial inoculation.
