A Flame Weeder for Yard and Garden is usually a propane gas-powered open-flame torch intended primarily as a non-chemical method of weed control in the garden and around the premises, e.g. fence line, walkway, patio, curb, driveway, graveled site, ditch bank. It kills seedling weeds outright and established plants with a few treatments and can be used to control vegetative growth. The device is usually a hand-held wand with the flame torch at one end and a trigger mechanism at the other for on/off control and to regulate flame intensity. Depending on the model, the propane cylinder is attached directly to the wand, or it is carried by hand, by wheeled dolly, or on one’s back with the gas hose attached to the wand.
