Lester, AL, livestock producer Ben Waide built a Homemade Hinged Cattle Guard Cover to use when he needs to move his animals through a gate that’s protected by a cattle guard, Made of 2- x 6-inch wooden planks, each half of the cover is hinged to one end of the guard. When folded back, it’s held in place against the gate post by a chain catch.
