Robocrop In-Row Weeder

Mounted in front of the tractor, the Robocrop In-Row Weeder removes weeds not only between rows, but also within each row. An elevated digital camera gathers GPS-generated video information, which is fed into analysis software, which, in turn, actuates fixed-tine rotor units that maneuver in and out of individual rows to cut off the weeds between one plant and the next. Steered by the camera’s processed signal, the rotor unit can weed over 90% of the between-plant surface area at speeds as high as about 2 mph (depending type of crop), with greatly reduced operator fatigue.
