Happiness Has Taken Bobby a Long Way
For Bobby E., farming and community have become powerful parts of his healing journey. A disabled military veteran living with serious health issues, including a traumatic brain injury and mental health challenges, he often finds social
situations and daily tasks difficult. Through AgrAbility’s support, however, he has gained encouragement, understanding, and new confidence.
Support from Virginia AgrAbility and partners at Virginia State University has also helped Bobby develop strategies for working safely and effectively in the field. He says the program has helped him better manage the mental challenges he faces while farming and has introduced him to assistive technologies that make daily tasks easier.
Attending the National AgrAbility Project’s annual National AgrAbility Training Workshop was a life-changing experience.
“This has been one of the happiest times of my life,” Bobby said. “They see my challenges and accept me. AgrAbility pushes me, believes in me, and knows I can do it.” He says the sense of belonging has been encouraging and healing, giving him renewed confidence as he works to support his family through farming.
